Frequently asked questions
are there things you Can’t or won’t do?
Through a lack of expertise or time, there are orders I won’t be able to fulfill:
Longarm quilting: Most of the quilting I do is on my quilting machine and I do not own a long-arm quilting machine. I have partnered with someone local who provides this service and would be happy to refer and work with them if needed.
Woodworking: Although I do have some basic woodworking expertise, I partner with a woodworker at events and would happily refer you to someone very skilled.
Knitting: I can crochet, but I don’t knit. I tried many times years ago, but for some reason it just didn’t stick.
Abusive or Insensitive content: If you provide me with grossly rude, abusive or harmful content, I will not perform the work. Sometimes swearing can be humorous, but if it crosses the line, I have the right to refuse to work on it.
I have a stash of t-shirts and/or baby clothes, now what?
If you would like a t-shirt or baby clothes quilt made, I’d be happy to make this happen for you. It all starts with a discussion on what you’re looking for: size, colours, use and fabrics. I then arrange to collect the clothes and create a pattern based on what you provide me. I try my hardest to keep you posted on my progress and provide ‘sneak peeks’ along the way.
do you do HEMS and alterations?
Yes! I do basic hems and minor alterations. If you need fancy and specialized work done, I’d be happy to refer you to a tailor.
Hems are $15 a pair of pants or a simple skirt. Rush jobs are an additional $5. More involved jobs will be priced on an as needed basis.
Items can be dropped off at my home. I try to turn them around as quickly as possible.
do you make donations?
I am engaged in my community and make an effort to donate 2-3 items a year. These vary depending on my time and what I have available. A lot of lead-time is needed in advance for these requests. I also donate to Quilts for Survivors and have made a number of quilts and blocks for this amazing project.
do personalize items?
Yes! I have a Cricut Maker 3 and can personalize items with heat transfer vinyl or make transfer stickers. I do this work in small batches though and if you are looking for bulk work, I can happily recommend some very talented people who can provide this service for you.
DO YOU TEACH?
I have a lot of experience training and teaching individuals and groups of people. If you are interested in an individual or group class, please let me know. I can come to you or you can come to me. I can also help arrange a booking at a sewing-based location if needed.
