If you've been wondering what I've been up to lately, the honest answer is: a little bit of everything! Life has been busy, and while I haven't had as much quilting time as I'd like, I've been keeping my hands happily occupied with a handful of really different projects. Here's a peek at what's been on my worktable (and couch, and kitchen table…).
For the last few years, I've been taking on custom projects for people, and my most recent one was a real standout. I just finished a church banner that incorporated both appliqué and machine embroidery — a beautiful banner of the world. It was such a different kind of challenge from my usual quilting work, and honestly, I loved every minute of it. There's something really special about making something that will hang in a meaningful space and be seen by so many people.

Okay, confession time: I started this crochet shirt a long time ago. I put it down back in March when I was deep in getting the store open, and it sat patiently waiting for me. Well, I've picked it back up again — and I'm almost done! The yarn itself is the real story here. I found it at a thrift store and knew immediately that I had to make something with it. I'd actually had the pattern for a couple of years, just waiting for the right yarn to come along. Sometimes the project finds you!

Lego Sewing Machine (Yes, Really!)
This last one is pure joy. When I opened the store back in May, my sister gave me the most perfect gift: a Lego-style building block set of an old-fashioned sewing machine — complete with a little fabric shop underneath it! I've been slowly working my way through it, and I have to say, I was blown away by the quality. It even has gearing built in so the needle actually goes up and down and the feed dogs move. It's the kind of thing that makes you smile every single time you look at it.

So that's what's been keeping me busy between classes and the shop! I'd love to hear what you've been working on too — drop a comment below and let me know. 🧵
